In November, Klipsch introduced a next-generation version of its original ProMedia desktop speaker system, which was released in 1999. The new system is named ProMedia Lumina.
Fast forward almost five months, and for the first time, this reimagined desktop speaker system is on sale.
Like the original ProMedia, the ProMedia Lumina is a 2.1-channel desktop system featuring a pair of powered speakers and a wired subwoofer. So it’s pretty beefy.
But, given that the original was released over two-and-a-half decades ago, Klipsch has rung in the changes with its new ProMedia Lumina.
The new system features modern connections and technologies. It can be connected to your computer via USB-C or a 3.5mm line-in. And it now supports Bluetooth, so you can stream audio to them (if you don’t want to use them as desktop speakers).
Naturally, Klipsch overalled the acoustics, too. The speakers have a two-way design, comprised of a one-inch tweeter and a three-inch midrange driver. The tweeter is the standout, as it features Klipsch’s patented MicroTractrix horn technology, helping it deliver a more accurate and powerful sound.
The system also comes with a ported subwoofer with a 6.5-inch side-firing driver. According to Klipsch, this helps the system bring “satisfying bass to small spaces.”
Aside from the new sound, connections and streaming capabilities, Klipsch has also integrated the ProMedia Lumina with a neat LED lighting system.
On the back of each speaker are six LED lights that glow different colors (there are five “Light Modes” to choose from) and create a cool ambience for your desktop. Of course, you can turn off these lights if it’s not your thing.
The ProMedia Lumina system normally costs $380. That includes two speakers, two speaker stands and the wired subwoofer.
But, right now, Klipsch is running a promotion that drops the price of the system by $60. This deal applies if you purchase directly from Klipsch, as well as other authorized sellers, including B&H, Crutchfield and Sweetwater.
