Toyota is recalling more than 550,000 vehicles because “the second-row seats may not fully lock after seat back adjustment,” according to the company.
Because the faulty seat-back mechanism might fail to lock, it can increase the risk of an injury in the event of a high-speed crash.
The recall includes 2021-2024 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles sold in the U.S.

When the fix becomes available, “dealers will replace the return springs in the recliner assemblies with improved ones,” at no cost to owners, according to the company.
Owners will be notified about the recall in early May 2026.
